Apparitions Sighted at Old Carsbad Station
Local townsfolk and tourists have reported an increase in supernatural activity at Old Carlsbad Station. Apparitions have been sighted outside the station on multiple occasions over the past few weeks. The spirits are said to appear on the platform out of the mist between midnight a dawn. They pace back and forth as though they are waiting for a train. In some cases they have seemed agitated and when approached, have knocked hats off heads or ripped bags from the hands of witnesses.
Supernatural activity at the station is not unusual. However, making such information public could damage the village’s tourism business, so the local council keeps such reports under wraps. Reports of strange sounds and cold spots at the station have typically been dismissed as the result of old floor boards or faulty heating. But ghost sightings are more difficult to ignore.
The village council are not alone in wishing to keep the true nature of Old Carlsbad Station quiet. The station is the location of a portal to Waters End Academy. A local witch discovered the portal in 1898 and after passing through it, found the ruins of a castle overlooking the ocean on the other side. The castle was built by a group of mages who arrived in California with Spanish explorers 500 years ago. The witch and her coven founded a school of witchcraft in the hidden castle and it eventually became known as Waters End Academy.
While the school has been attended by many hundreds of students who have passed through the portal over the past century, the ghosts of the original mages have continued to inhabit the location. They have always been friendly to the students and teachers at the school, so the recent reports of bad behavior have raised alarms.
Professor Eurion Ravenel has been dispatched by Waters End Academy to assess the situation and find a solution. Professor Ravenel is an expert in the area of ghosts and spirits. Since joining the faculty he has made a study of the school’s ghosts. “The recent sightings at the station have been most unsettling,” said Professor Ravenel. “Our resident ghosts have always been peaceful, but something has clearly upset them. We shall do our best to get to the bottom of it as quickly as possible.”
The portal at Old Carlsbad Station will remain closed until further notice.
